Arduaine Gardens Saved for 2009

The campaign to fight the threatened closure to Arduaine Gardens near Oban has had an initial victory with the news that the Gardens will remain open for a year so that an endowment can be raised. The NTS announced today that The Jeniam Foundation has generously agreed to fund the deficit of the property for this period, enabling strenuous efforts to be made by all interested parties to fundraise. There is also a very generous offer from the McCoss family of an annual donation for the next 25 years. The Trust is in talks with the Loch Melfort Hotel to explore marketing opportunities and a new Friends Group has been formed to champion the garden.
